Welcome to one of the fastest growing churches on Long Island!
Good Shepherd is about Family. We host many gatherings and affairs that include the entire family.
Our Sunday morning worship services are very family oriented, giving all families an opportunity to come to worship together. This is so important these days when our lives are so busy and we are all involved in individual adventures.
Coming to Good Shepherd is like coming home! One visit with us and you will understand why.

So Jo Ann came home yesterday from a visit to what are becoming possibly the most perfect set of twins God ever created. The pictures tell the tale of Leisel and Lailah. And Jo Ann took more than one… I believe that there is a distinct possibility that if you ask her about these two wee girls, she just might whip out her I phone and show you the pics she took. Likely faster than the speed of light.
The two are rather different. One – Lailah - is really calm and laid back. The world just happens to go by and she enjoys every moment of the passing scenarios. Calmly. The other – Leisel - is chasing the world. She is just grabbing life by the throat and going great guns.
Twins. Born at (almost) the same time of the same mother and father. Yet so different in many ways. Each is a wonder in herself; beautifully and wonderfully made.
Unique. Special. Each of them.
That is how God does it. He makes us each wonderfully; ‘knit together in our mother’s womb’ as the psalms say it.
Lailah, Leisel… and you too. Celebrate. You are wonderfully made. Enjoy who you are and live to the fullness of God’s intention for you.
-Peace and Joy, Blessings on your day, Pastor Remo.
And just another comment:
We were at TGI Friday’s for lunch today and ran across a grandmother and her grand daughter from our church. It was so nice to see them and chat a bit. The waitress said that it looked like a family reunion… That’s how it is when church family meets: We are glad to see each other.
Marilyn came over to share the following thought she had received in an email this morning. Its worth sharing:
“And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth.” Then he made the earth round…and he laughed and laughed and laughed!
Peace and Joy,
Pr Remo A. Madsen

Our WELCA Ladies (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) are tireless when it comes to mission work. They collect hats and mittens for our Native Americans. Make quilts, school kits, health kits and school bags for all in need. They support the children of Appalachia, one of the poorest parts or our country by hosting a baby shower each year. Their work is never done!!
Come join our younger members as they gather together the last Monday of every month. Our gatherings are sure to provide our youth with fun and adventure as well as caring for the community and each other.

Skate with Pastor
Our Pastor is an avid hockey player still awaiting the Islanders invitation to be their starting goalie. After 9 years of being on the Island and leading worship a mere 10 minute from the Nassau Coliseum, it seems strange that he has not been called up yet. And now, with their impending move to Brooklyn, the distance seems too great to practice with the team However, he is available to be called up on game days.
In any case, to comfort your Pastor, the congregation holds an annual “Skate with Pastor” event. After worship we head to Newbridge Arena. If you do not know how to skate, he will teach you!
We will have our Annual Congregational Meeting.
We meet to celebrate the past year and introduce plans for the new year. All members are invited to participate in this important meeting where your Church Council is unveiling new important proposals for the coming year. We meet immediately following the Benediction of the second service.
Once again, this wonderful and inspiring event has come. Join the ladies of our church as we enjoy a day of worship and inspiration together.
We will have a sign up sheet in the lobby for those who would like to go together. All monies must be collected no later than Thursday, March 5th to ensure our Early registration discount of $60 per person. For any additional questions, please call the office at 516-731-7387
